Catted Downpipes

A downpipe that keeps its catalyst: SS304 pipework around a high-flow catalyst section.

A catted downpipe replaces the factory front section while keeping a catalyst in the pipe. In this range the construction is SS304 throughout, with a 200-cell high-flow catalyst section integrated into the pipe run: fewer cells than a factory unit, in a larger, freer-flowing pipe. The result is ordered by buyers who want the downpipe upgrade in a form that retains a catalyst section in the system.

The variant sits inside the larger downpipe family, so the fitment list is the family's list: BMW B48, B58, N55, S55 and S63; Mercedes-AMG C43 and C63; Volkswagen Group MQB cars on EA888 and EA855; McLaren, Mini, Ford Mustang EcoBoost and Honda Civic 1.5T applications. Pipe sizes run through the 3-inch, 3.5-inch and 4-inch classes the applications call for.

Construction of the Catted Variant

The pipe is mandrel bent and TIG welded on the fitment fixture, with the catalyst section housed in the run where the factory unit sat. Flange faces are machined to the turbo outlet, sensor bosses are placed from the original part's scanned positions, and V-band joints are used where the application uses them.

Heat management is specified per order: single or double-layer heat shields on the applications listed with them, and ceramic coating as a finish option over brushed or mirror-polished stainless.

Catted or Catless: Making the Call

The choice between this variant and the catless one is a specification decision about what the finished car should carry in its front section. The two constructions are set side by side — what each contains, how each is built, and what each order includes — so the decision is made on the parts themselves.

Fitment Confirmation for Catted Orders

Send the vehicle, engine and model year. The reply confirms the fixture for your engine, the catalyst section specification for that application, the shield and finish options it carries, and the quotation. If the application is not in production as a catted variant, the reply says so and names the variants that are.

Send your vehicle, engine and model year. The catted downpipes options that fit are confirmed first, then quoted with finishes and hardware.
