Billet intake manifolds are machined from aluminium billet rather than cast, which suits the low-volume, exact applications this family serves: one engine's port layout, plenum and throttle flange, cut to that engine. In this range the billet line is documented for the Volkswagen Group engines — the EA888 Gen 3 application in the Audi A3 and S3 and the Golf MK7, and the 1.8T applications in the MK4 Jetta, Golf GTI and Beetle — and for the Nissan GT-R R35.

Manifold and Fuel-Rail Kit as One Item
On the documented applications the manifold is supplied with a fuel-rail kit: the rail and its fittings, matched to the manifold's injector positions. The 1.8T kit is a 70 mm left-facing layout; the EA888 kit is the mirror-polished billet manifold with rail for the A3, S3 and MK7 applications. Ordering the two together is the point of the kit: rail and manifold arrive as one specification, not two parts that meet for the first time on the engine.

Why Billet for These Applications
The applications are produced in ones and small runs for specific engines, and the geometry — runner length, plenum volume, throttle position — is the product. Machining from billet lets each application carry its own geometry without casting tooling, and lets the finish be part of the part: the mirror-polished EA888 manifold is finished as a display piece because in those engine bays it is one.
